CMU research shows compression may unlock AI puzzle-solving abilities

Carnegie Mellon researchers found that information compression alone can enable AI to solve complex reasoning tasks without pre-training. Their system, CompressARC, uses compression to tackle abstract pattern-matching puzzles on the ARC-AGI benchmark, challenging traditional machine learning approaches.
